Employees of the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club and Spa participated in an international corporate-wide, Spirit to Serve Communities Day. Chris Major, General Manager of Golf for the Marco Island Marriott, The Rookery at Marco, led a team of Marriott employees to the Marco Island Fire Station where they grilled and served lunch for local First Responders. “We served between 40-50 people today; hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad and all the fixings. Members of the Marco Island, East Naples and the Isles of Capri Fire/Rescue departments were served aswell as many members of the Marco Island Police Department.
“The Spirit to Serve is a strong component of Marriott’s core values as established by J.W. Marriott. Our local culture committee chose this as our way to show appreciation to our First Responders.”
Chris, chair of the Marco Island Marriott Spirit To Serve committee, joined several committee members behind the tables filling plates and serving beverages insuring that all the guests were well fed. According to one of his staff, “the men and women who are first to respond to emergencies and accidents are all angels. We can never acknowledge all they do for our island community.”
