Mardi Gras-Goodland Boat Parade

 

 

Mark Saturday, February 19th on your calendar for the 15th Annual Mardi Gras-Goodland Boat Parade. This year’s theme is “the good old days”. The Goodland Boat Park will be open for the festivities of the parade and the boating ramp will be closed to the boating public. In addition to food and art and craft vendors at the Goodland Boat Park, entertainment, auctions, raffles and great food will be highlighted throughout Goodland at Stan’s Idle Hour, Little Bar Restaurant, Old Marco Crab House and Marker 8.

Grand Marshal Stan Gober will lead the parade, which starts at 2 p.m. at marker G15 near Moran’s Barge Marina. The boats will take a turn through Buzzard’s Bay South and

then circumnavigate the island ending at the Goodland Boat Park. To view the parade by boat, anchor as close to the mangroves as possible between the Goodland Bridge and Marker R10.

Proceeds from registration fees, t-shirt sales, raffles an auctions will be donated to Avow Hospice, Inc., and will be used to support services provided by their Marco Island office. Hospice is a program of health care that provides comfort and support to terminally ill persons and their families, primarily in the home. As a not-for-profit organization, Hospice relies in part on community efforts such as this.
