At the Jan. 14th meeting of the Marco Island Writers Inc., SWFL Romance Writers of America members, Karen Auturi and Sonja Gunter, will talk about romance writing and the differences and similarities it has to other genres.
Meetings are held at the Marco Center for the Arts, 1010 Winterberry Dr., on the second Wednesday of every month. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and meetings run from 6-8 pm. First time visitors are always free.
Thanks to Susan Block of the Early Learning Coalition for attending our December meeting and promoting the Literacy Buddy Project. We encourage anyone interested in promoting early learning in children to sign up as a “Buddy.” You will receive a letter from a child who would like to receive a book. You will send this child three books during the year and receive letters from him or her. Most of these children have never owned a book. We hope that all of our members and the public will join in on this project. For more information, visit www.elcofswfl.org or email LiteracyBuddies@elcofswfl.org.
Thanks to Dr. Dolores Burton and Connie Gaertner for presenting a program focusing on writing for children. We all have had a childhood, so we all have some children’s stories buried within us. Many of the tips given were applicable for any genre.
