Marco Presbyterian Church Celebrates the Fourth of July in February

Marco Presbyterian Church, 875 West Elkcam Circle, will celebrate the Fourth of July in February on Saturday, February 26 at 3 p.m. The community is invited to join them on the church grounds for a patriotic picnic with hot dogs, hamburgers, music and games. From 6 to 7 p.m. they will sing patriotic songs, honor and pray for loved ones in the military and their families.

Guest speaker, Chaplain (Brigadier General) Douglas E. Lee, U.S. Army, Retired will share about the chaplain service. Lee is Executive Director of the Presbyterian and Reformed Joint Commission for Chaplain and Military Personnel. He will also give a message from the Word at the church’s 6 p.m. worship service on February 27.

Lee was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received his Bachelors Degree in Radio and TV Production from the University of Minnesota and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from seminary, Lee served as a Presbyterian pastor in three churches over a period of 16 years. He also served as an Army chaplain for over 30 years; 16 of them on active duty. He retired from the Army in September 2008.

Lee’s military honors include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (oak leaf cluster), the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Reserve Components Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Air Assault Badge. He is authorized to wear the Pentagon Army Staff Identification Badge.
