Our new year is starting off with an exciting duo of guest speakers. On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, Marco Island Writers, Inc. will welcome two members of the Seymour Agency. Literary agent Nicole Resciniti and Marisa Cleveland, executive director of R&D for Florida and New York, will share some pointers for those wishing to publish commercially. They will address what is selling in the publishing world, how to capture a literary agent’s attention, and what an agent looks for in an author.
Unfortunately, Dr. Rich Blonna, our scheduled speaker for December 9, 2015, was not able to attend due to illness. Pauline Hayton, Anthology Book Chairman, shared a Power Pointpresentation on the Mt. Kisha School in India. Pauline and her husband have accumulated 100 books for the school, but the cost of shipping to their remote area is very high. Marco Island Writers is donating the proceeds from sales of the 2015 Anthology Book, but the shipping fund is still quite short of its goal. Afterwards, there was a social time with holiday snacks, beverages, and a blind book exchange.
Members are continuing to staff the booth at the weekly Marco Island Farmers’ Market every Wednesday through April 13, 2016, 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Veterans Community Park, 901 Park Avenue. Drop by for a chat and check out thebooks for sale.
