Marco Island Woman’s Club Donates New Fountain

MIWC garden at the Marco Island Cemetery.

Marco Island Woman’s Club (MIWC) continues a 40-plus year tradition of beautifying the historic Marco Island Cemetery by donating a new fountain to their garden site.  Recently, Carolyn Atkins, Club Historian, managed the installation of a new “Woman At The Well” Fountain.  The new fountain replaces the original 33-year old one that was installed June 14, 1985 as part of the Club’s beautification project.

This garden also includes a heart-shaped granite marker with the MIWC motto “Why you were born and why you are living depends on what you are getting out of this world and what you are giving.”

The Marco Island Woman’s Club is both a civic-minded organization and an active social network with a long, proud history of serving the community.  It is well known for generous contributions, ranging from providing college scholarships for deserving Marco Island high school students to restoring the Marco Island Cemetery and maintaining the garden therein, initiated in 1977.

Marco Island Woman’s Club next meeting is Wednesday, December 5 at the Marco Island Yacht Club.  Social time begins at 11:30 AM, followed by lunch at noon.
