Marco Island Seafood Festival Extends Format

By Dianna Dohm

For the fourth consecutive year, the two Rotary Clubs and the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island have worked together on a very successful joint venture. The Marco Island Seafood Festival is the island’s single largest community event. This year the event will be held Saturday, March 24 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, March 25, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Veterans Park in the center of Marco Island.

With over 10,000 visitors asking for an expanded format and extended festival hours on Saturday and Sunday, this was a natural choice for event organizers. To add to the festival fun, the LANDSHARKS will be headlining on Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00PM, and Sunday evening will include Happy Hour from 4:00-6:00PM with a two-for-one on beer and wine.

Marco Island’s Veterans Community Park will once again turn into a spectacular variety of continuous entertainment. Featured entertainers on the Seminole Casino Stage include; Saturday – The Del Prado’s, The Gladezmen, Gema Pearl featuring Lee Brovitz, Jim Long and the LandSharks, Sunday – The WholeTones, Hot Damn Duo and the Danny Morgan Band. Attendees can also expect some of the best seafood in Florida, a special Kids Zone and over 60 arts and crafts vendors. For those who love a great time but prefer hamburgers and hot dogs to seafood, selections will be available.

Parking can be found at Veterans Community Park. A free shuttle bus service is also available, provided by the Seminole Casino. It will be run throughout the island, stopping at key locations such as the hotels and City Hall. For complete shuttle route information see www.marcoislandseafoodfestival.com.

One hundred percent of the monies raised goes directly to local and international humanitarian programs sponsored by the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs.

The Marco Island Seafood Festival is truly a community family event, bringing islanders and visitors from as far away as Atlanta to gather in the spirit of good food and fun.

Entry Fee is $6, kids under 12 are free.
