Jennifer Tenney (nee Trafton) was raised on Marco Island and has been a resident of Marco all her life. After 15 years of practicing law on Marco Island, she took the exciting step to open a new firm, Tenney Law, PLLC, located at 1770 San Marco Rd, Suite 201, Marco Island, FL, 34145. Jennifer will continue to specialize in the areas that she has been specializing in for the last 15 years: Real Estate, Elder Law, Wills and Trusts, Probate, Guardianship, Association Law, Loan Documentation, and Business Law.
Jennifer loved growing up on the Island, after attending Tommie Barfield, Gulfview Middle School, and Lely High School, she went on to study Political Science at Rollins College and went to Law School at Duke University School of Law. Jennifer graduated from Duke, with honors, in 2004 and became a member of the Florida Bar and began practicing law the same year.
“This Island is my rhythm and Islanders are my people! I think the Marco Island community is unique in its closeness and intimacy—the business community is very interconnected and dependent on working together. I’ve always done my best to build connections and develop relationships, building bridges instead of burning them.” Jennifer’s goals when she works with clients are to skillfully advise and assist clients smoothly through whatever matter they see her for: whether it be a real estate closing, or an estate plan, or a probate, or a condominium or business matter. Her goal is to prevent conflict through effective documentation and communication, and in the end, to ensure above all, the client is happy.
As a Marco Island resident, Jennifer is very involved in the community. She has been on the Marco Island Charter Middle School Board for the last 14 years, where she is Past President and current Treasurer. She is a proud member of the Marco Island Noontime Rotary Club and is Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, and current Membership Orientation Chair. She is a Paul Harris Fellow. Jennifer is the race director of the Marco Island Half Marathon and 5K, which is an annual event that benefits the Marco Island Charter Middle School. She is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Marco Island. Jennifer is a graduate of Leadership Marco, Class of 2005. Jennifer also teaches Zumba at the Marco Island YMCA. Jennifer has been happily married to Derek Tenney since 2004 and they have a wonderful daughter named Dakota.
