It was a cool and windy day, but the Seventh Annual Pancake Breakfast put on by the Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation (MIFRF) was a definite success. A complete breakfast was offered with eggs, sausage, pancakes, coffee and orange juice. Tables and chairs lined the bays of the fire station and some of the pancake “flippers” included local “celebrity chefs” MIFRD Chief Mike Murphy, City Councilman Larry Honig and City Manager Roger Hernstadt, as well as a few Fire

Hundreds of islanders and visitors stopped in to enjoy breakfast. MIFRF holds a pancake breakfast twice per year, in April and November. “Many come straight from church, and it is a chance for members of the community to get together in a casual atmosphere and socialize. It has grown into quite a popular event.” said Dianna Dohm, MIFRF president. She added, “We appreciate everyone coming out and supporting our Fire Rescue Department like they do.”
Chief Murphy thanked everyone for making the day a success, saying, “It was a great day and a wonderful community event.”
