Marco Island Academy announces a Day at the Beach

The “Day at the Beach” is for students who are enrolled in the Marco Island Academy. Each student can bring a friend. The event is free. This will be a great opportunity for students to get to know each other, since many of the kids are coming from different schools.

The Marriott has generously offered a room rate of $99/nt on May 20th and 21st. Mark Haffner will film the MI Academy video during parts of the day. Participation in the video is voluntary.

Tentative schedule: 1 – 1:30 pm Meet and Greet/Sign In; 1:30 – 2:30 pm Beach Olympics for students with Amber Prange. Parents will attend an informational meeting with Jane Watt, Chair, Marco Island Academy; 2:30 – 5:15 pm Fun on the Beach (free use of various Marriott water sports equipment, chairs, chickie huts, etc…); 5:15 – 6 pm Get showered and ready for dinner (can use locker rooms if not spending the night at the Marriott); 6 – 8pm Student Pizza Party and chat session (students will give input on dress code, school lunches, etc). For those who wish to participate in the music video, Mark Haffner will be filming the “pool party” portion of the video during a part of this time. Wear whatever pool attire/clothes you feel comfortable in; 8 – 10 pm Dive in Movie by the pool (appropriate for the age group); 10pm Parents pick up students.

If parents are not spending the night, they can attend the 1:30 pm meeting and then are free to go. Parents are welcome to stay to help/volunteer with games and activities. If parents are spending the night, they can relax and enjoy the property all day and plan to meet their child around 10 pm.

Although it is not mandatory, we would like at least 1 parent to attend the 1:30 pm meeting. If neither parent can attend, please sign the release form and have your child bring it with them to the event. Your child’s friend must also have their parent(s) sign the release form and bring it to the event.
