It was recently announced that MBOR was ranked number 16 by Travel & Leisure Magazine’s 2013 World’s Best Awards List of Top Resorts in the Continental U.S.
The first-time Travel & Leisure Magazine Award has been very exciting for the 98-suite boutique resort. “This is a multitude of guests coming into our resort, experiencing it and rating it based on our customer service. It’s a greater sampling size than other awards offered to resorts, so it really speaks volumes,” added Albeit. As does the fact that MBOR placed ahead of the Ritz-Carlton and LaPlaya Resorts in Naples – the only other two Southwest Florida resorts to make the Top 50 List.
“Travel & Leisure Magazinereaders are among the most discerning travelers in the world,” commented Jack Wert, Executive Director of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau, in a press release congratulating the three hotels.
Those used to a luxurious experience during travel found MBOR to offer such fine amenities. The oceanfront property offers free beach chairs and umbrellas to all its guests. Beach attendants are on hand during the day, as well. “So many resorts charge extra (for chairs and umbrellas). These are high end customers we are catering to, so why nickel and dime them?” states Albeit, mentioning that complimentary smoothies are served poolside daily.
A pool even sits atop the five-story parking garage. Guests who stay on the first floor of the resort open their rooms to the garden terrace that holds the sky-high swimming pool. A full spa is available at the resort as well as the amazing Sal ePepe restaurant which features an outside terrace, perfect for sunset dining. The Fiddler’s Creek Golf Course, only a few miles away, is also an added amenity when staying at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort.
Most of all, Albeit feels the high accolade was achieved due to the outstanding staff. “We have a very extensive training program that’s been very successful. We share our goals with our staff, and they become their goals, too. We pride ourselves on making guests happy; quality service and cleanliness are key. We provide physical attributes the guests are seeking, but I feel that the service provided outweighs the physical attributes.
“I love to rejoice with everyone responsible. Our staff is our most important asset. They’ve set the bar.” But don’t expect Albeit to settle for 16th place. “Next year, we’re aiming for 12th!”
