Marco Bay Yacht Club Introduces New Members

The Marco Bay Yacht Club recently honored their newest members with dinner and dancing at the Marco Island Yacht Club.  Each year MBYC holds a function to introduce their newest Members.  This past Membership Year saw significant growth in “The Fun Club” thanks in large part to the number and creative events such as the 10,000 Island Challenge and the upcoming Poker Run. Pictured in a group are (from left to right) Dan and Connie Woodworth, Charles and Holly Erker, Glen and Theresa Perkins, Hermann and Darlene Schulze and Jeff and Patti Jo Wilson.  Other recent Members, but were unable to attend, were Rick and Valerie Woodworth, Benny and Jeanie Tincher, Doug and Barbara Hess, and Bill and Kim Hillyer.  The Members were welcomed with a champagne flute and flowers; Club Commodore Sally Orth introduced each couple, who then spoke briefly about their coming to Marco Island and why they joined MBYC.  Special recognition was given for Mark and Susan Setter who were not in attendance as shortly after joining this past year Mark was determined to have a very rare genetic disorder and unfortunately passed away.

Marco Bay’s tag line is “Have Fun the Marco Bay Way” since their focus is on a combination of boating events for both large and smaller boats, including monthly cruises around and across the State of Florida, events for ‘day boats’ as well as numerous social events, a First Mates Club, weekly canasta and fund raising for area civic groups such as the Civil Air Patrol and Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Membership eligibility requires a power vessel of at least 20′ and is berthed on Marco Island, Goodland, or the Isles of Capri, the vessel must have a current US Coast Guard Examination Decal (the Club’s Safety Officer will provide inspection and certificate at no cost).  The membership year runs from March to March of the following year; there is a one-time initiation fee of $250 (which includes the cost of the new member dinner), and annual dues of $150 (reduced by 50% between July 1 and November 1).

Interested in joining? Join us the last Monday of each month at our official home, CJ’s on the Bay at the Esplanade or contact Membership Chair Judy Sacher at 239-777-4604 or
