The Marco Island Police Foundation will host its next “Lunch with the Chief” on Thursday, January 28 at the Hideaway Beach Club on Marco Island. Lunch will begin at 11:30 AM.
Joining Marco Island Police Chief Al Schettino, foundation President Curt Koon, Marco Island Police Officers and foundation members and guests, will be guest speaker Lieu- tenant Colonel Tom Di Tomasso, who will speak about how to protect yourself from terrorism.
Lt. Colonel Di Tomasso served in the Army for twenty years, earning the Silver Star and Purple Heart as a Task Force Ranger in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. Some of his exploits were depicted in the movie “Black Hawk Down.” He was assigned to the United States Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg in 1998 and has made multiple combat deployments to Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. In his last assignment, Di Tomasso served as a Joint Special Operations Task Force Commander in Iraq overseeing more than twelve hundred special operations forces and government agency personnel.
“Those who attend this month’s luncheon will have great opportunity to hear about terrorism protection strategies from a true American hero,” said Marco Island Police Foundation President Curt Koon. “Not only will lunch participants have a chance to participate in a great program, but they’ll have an opportunity to show support for those that keep our community safe everyday.”
Those wishing to attend should call Joe Granda at 239-389-2823.
