It wasn’t that long ago that we watched the live feed of the Council voting down the ALF. Those of us who breathed a collective sigh of relief were stunned when Councilors Grifoni and Honig pressed for a reconsideration of the denial. Now, these same two want a supermajority for the kind of vote required for the City to purchase the property on which the ALF was proposed. I’m sure it is a complete coincidence. However, I think we all need to follow this issue carefully. We cannot have the Council’s hands tied by a minority if a majority decides purchasing the property is the best way to protect our wonderful island.
