The Local Color Art Gallery recently held its First Friday open house, and the theme was China! Lanterns, dragons and egg rolls – Oh my! Returning snowbirds and locals enjoyed some wine and wontons while chatting about summer travels, the rain and humidity, but mainly about the new creations at the gallery.
The six artists at the gallery include Judy Chinski, Lindy Kowalzcyk, Bonnie Hauke, Karen Swanker, Betty Newman, Malenda Trick and children’s book author Shirley DeLong. The artwork is always evolving and changing with new pieces appearing each month.
What’s new? Judy Chinski is taking acrylic pours to a new level. Bonnie Hauke has created necklaces with exotic beads and more shell creations. Karen Swanker has added new Found Object boxes and Betty Newman’s mixed media pieces sparkle and shine with abstract images. Shirley DeLong has a new book coming out soon and Lindy Kowalzcyk has scads of new bracelets and pendants ready for the season. Malenda Trick has been painting up a storm and has added lots of new decorative pieces that fit any home décor.
Each first Friday of the month the gallery holds its art walk/open house, year-round. Friday, October 5th will have Halloween delights. Located at the Shops of Olde Marco, the gallery is open every day except Sunday.
