Marco Island children’s book author Roseanne Pawelec announced today that a total of over $1,000 has been donated to Audubon of the Western Everglades from sale proceeds of “Ollie Finds a New Home, the Story of a Burrowing Owl on Marco Island,” since the book was launched last fall.
“It is so gratifying to play a part in supporting Audubon’s Owl Watch program which insures the health and vibrancy of Marco’s burrowing owl population,” said Pawelec.
The donated funds are used by Audubon to purchase equipment and supplies such as rope, signs, and posts, and for lawn care, needed tomark and maintain the burrows for the Island’s over 400 burrowing owls.
One dollar from the sale of every copy of “Ollie Finds a New Home” is donated to the Burrowing Owl Protection Fund of Marco Island, which Pawelec established with the assistance of the Community Foundation of Collier County.
If you would like to donate directly to Audubon of the Western Everglades to help Marco’s burrowing owls, please visit www.audubonwe.org for information on its sponsorship and “adopt a burrow” programs.
“Ollie Finds a New Home” is available at Sunshine Booksellers on Marco Island, Barnes and Nobles in Naples, and at local gift shops.
