Hosted by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, this prestigious national award is open to books published between 2016 and 2017.
“The FAPA President’s Book Award exists to promote excellence in the publishing industry by recognizing talented contemporary authors who put both heart and soul into their work. FAPA is proud to be a champion of authors and publishers going the extra mile to produce books of excellence in every aspect,” said Jane R. Wood, President-Elect of FAPA.
“Bully Billy Is Back! The Burrowing Owls Are Worried” is a picture book for children ages 3 to 8 published by Breaklight Publications, which tells the story of Manny, a small Burrowing Owl, who has difficulty learning new things. While making fun of Manny, Bully Billy is injured. Later, when Manny sees Bully Billy in danger, he gets help from Owlivia, a brave, strong barn owl. Owlivia then leads all the owls out of danger as she did in “But You Don’t Look Like Me!” Bully Billy is saved and he decides it is better to be a friend than a bully. The book includes resources about bullying.
