The Marco Island Branch of the Collier County Public Library and the Marco Island Center for the Arts provide monthly art shows at the library’s Heathwood Drive location. During the months of December and January, the artwork of Marco Island artist Jo-Ann Sanborn will be featured. A percentage of the sales of Jo-Ann’s artwork will go to the Marco Island Center for the Arts.
Jo-Ann is a prizewinning, local landscape artist and teacher with a studio at the Esplanade on Marco Island. Her paintings are in private and public collections around the world. She is grateful for the support of her work.
“Nature gives us gifts of special moments, when the light turns magic and the joy of it touches our soul. These are the moments that interest me,” says Jo-Ann. “The images I use are ancient and familiar: Palms, water, sky and clouds.” The artist explains her “(i)nspiration . . . comes from working to capture the essence of the location either in sketches or with photographs, (t)hen . . . (returning) to the studio to complete the work.”
The artist says her goal is to create a unique painting that honors the beauty of the fragile world and fosters new appreciation for the world’s wild places.
Jo-Ann’s work can be seen at the Sunshine Gallery/Studio in the Esplanade on Marco Island or at www.joannsanborn.com.
