Lions Club to Hold Pancake Breakfast

The Marco Island Lions Club, a chapter of the highly recognizable nationally branded organization, has announced their annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser to be held on Saturday, February 23rd at the United Church of Marco Island, 320 North Barfield Drive, from 8 until 11 AM.

The breakfast historically has fed over 300 Marco Island residents and visitors on this one Saturday morning, raising considerable funds so that the island Lions Club can continue to do its good works.

“Our famous pancake breakfast features sausage, all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs and coffee. Come early because there’s always a crowd,” said Dave Gardner, President of the Marco Island club. He continued, “Whether hosting free vision tests or testing for diabetes, the Marco Lions Club puts our island community first. This fundraiser is very important to us.”

The Marco Lions Club uses 100% of the funds raised from their annual Pancake Breakfast to collect and distribute used eyeglasses for those who cannot afford them, screen thousands of adults and children in Collier County for vision and hearing problems, sponsor students for schools for the blind, and support and contribute to Southeastern Guide Dog, Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), as well as other vision organizations that directly aid the Marco Island community.

Tickets for the breakfast are $7 in advance (purchased from Lion Club members) or $8 at the door on the day of the breakfast. Give yourself and your family a mini-vacation on Saturday, February 23 by joining the Marco Island Lions Club for a wonderful time and some great food.

Lions Club International was first formed in 1917 when a Chicago businessman named Melvin Jones invited business clubs from around the U.S. to form an organization to help solve the social problems created in the aftermath of World War 1. Its mission was to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding. In the 100+ years since, 47,000 Lions Clubs in over 200 countries around the world have been launched and remain active.
