Light Up the Plaza!

‘Tis the season and ‘twas a night of good food and good times as The Speak- Easy hosted “Light Up the Plaza,” the Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce November After Five event. The holiday spirit filled the air as Marco Islanders enjoyed tasty hors d’oeuvres and raised a cup of cheer in this joyous celebration.

Chamber Executive Director Dianna Dohm welcomed the crowd to this networking event. Each month the After Five events are held at various businesses in the area.

Chamber President Alex Parker remarked on the resilience of Marco Island in the aftermath of Irma, saying “As you drive along the streets, you will see many trees that are bent, but not broken. So it is with all of us. We are Marco Strong!”

And with that, there was light! In the hub of the plaza, a Christmas tree and reindeer-driven sleigh were suddenly illuminated with the warmth of the season. The moment brought out the kid in all of us as guests took turns posing for photos and taking the reins to “drive” the open sleigh in our tropical winter wonderland. The festive display is a shining example of Marco Island’s love of the holidays.

Be sure to stop by the plaza at 1102 N. Collier Blvd. and see it for yourself! Mark your calendars now for the next Chamber After Five on December 20 at the Marco Island Hilton Resort.
