Letter to the Editor: Fred Kramer, Candidate for Marco City Council

Dear Editor,

Our island has greatly changed since I moved here in January of 1977. Over these years, I have witnessed the lasting aftermath of governmental decisions: the benefit of the good ones and the consequences of the bad ones.

My life here has been an incredible one, and I fully recognize how special our island is. Over the years, and beyond my work and my family, I have contributed to our community by serving on various boards, including the Marco Island Residents Beach Association, the Marco Island Civic Association, the Forum Club of Collier County (Southwest Florida), the Marco Island Fair Water Defense Fund Committee, the Marco Island Unit of the American Cancer Society, the Marco Island Optimists Club, the Marco Island Half Marathon, and the Marco Island Senior Softball League. Additionally, I have been a volunteer coach for both the Naples and Marco Optimists clubs and the Marco Island YMCA.

While I have avoided city politics, I now have the time and the commitment to run for our city council. I truly believe that my service on the council will help preserve and enhance our quality of life by smartly addressing the continuing pressures and benefits of growth. Simply, my years on the island allow me a unique background and understanding both of our history and of how we can best advance and protect Marco Island for the benefit of our entire community.

It would be an honor to serve on the city council. With an objective and independent voice, I would try to make a small repayment for all that our island has given me. Thank you for your consideration.

Fred Kramer

Candidate for Marco City Council
