Charlette Roman is the most accomplished candidate running this term with a proven successful background. Charlette has a broad scope of experience, responsibility, and proven decision making skills that have resulted in extremely successful professional accomplishments.
For those who may not know Ms. Roman, she enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Private in 1973 and retired as a full Colonel in 2001. She has served as the commander of an airborne signal battalion in the XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, NC, and is a senior parachutist and jumpmaster. After promotion to Colonel and graduation from the Army War College, Charlette was selected as the garrison commander of Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. The equivalent to a mayor or city manager, she was responsible for city operations including police, fire, public works, water utility and fiscal management. Her leadership, organization and communication skills have been thoroughly sharpened by her years of service to our nation.
When Charlette retired she didn’t hesitate to give back to the community by becoming an avid volunteer. Rookery Bay became a home away from home. She has direct experience with the City of Marco Island, having served two terms on the Planning Board (she was the chairwoman in 2015), and was also appointed to the Collier County Planning Commission.
Charlette is honest, pragmatic, and maintains hopeful insight into our community’s problems and needs. Her willingness to examine the issues and listen closely to the public’s questions and concerns sets her far apart from the other candidates.
I am writing today to express my support for her campaign. I encourage the community to vote for Charlette Roman in the upcoming election and to spread word to others of the value of Charlette’s experience and abilities to be our next City Councilor.
