Letter to the Editor: A Fresh Start
We have eight candidates running for four seats and after living here for 2 1/2 yrs I feel a change is needed in the way city council is run. As a retired Air Force Master Sergeant; I still live by the core values instilled in me by the Air Force. Integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do. When I vote for politicians to represent me and my family I hope they represent these values. My personal take away from the forums is that Jared Grifoni, Larry Honig, Howard Reed and Charlette Roman (who by the way is a retired Army Colonel) are the best choices for those seats. While they may not agree on all the issues, they bring a great deal of well rounded experience between them and a mature approach that would be a welcome change to our city council. All four of them value transparency in government and want to see the issues debated respectfully in the open while welcoming the public back into the process. I believe that they will help return the city council into something we can be proud of. I also feel they also see Marco Island as a place were we all can live in harmony and eliminate the divide we currently have between residents and tourists. Marco Island would not be what it is with out tourists. Last time I looked we don’t have any factories or other sources of industry that brings jobs. Lets not turn Marco Island into a gated community! For a fresh start, please vote for Grifoni, Honig, Reed and Roman.
