For 18 years, Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) has annually supported the Marco Island Annual Christmas House Decorating Contest. This year, LCEC Representative Tricia Dorn presented the event’s chairman, Dave Rive, with a check for $2000. This year, preliminary judging was done Dec. 15-16, and final judging was held Dec. 19. The Island is divided into nine areas with a judging team evaluating every home on every street on Marco, and judging teams rotate to a different zone each season. The overall winner of the house contest received a cash award of $250, a yard sign and the winner’s plaque. All top 10 contestants receive a plaque. The business winner is judged on its exterior decorations and presented a plaque and a yard sign. Winners are not eligible to win again for a five year period.
