The Kiwanis Summer Social on Saturday, August 1 brought together Kiwanis members and their spouses to socialize in Marco Island style.
Marco Island Kiwanis members Bryan and Rondi Hauser organized the social event and acted as hosts. Rondi’s brother, also a Kiwanis International member, opened up his beautiful waterfront home to forty-five guests for the evening.
Although billed as a “Pizza Party,” the guests each brought additional side dishes showing off their culinary talents. A birthday cake emerged and “Happy Birthday” was sung atthe end of the evening to celebrate Ken Pagach’s birthday.
Guests enjoyed relaxing by the pool and the water views, while listening to Smokin’ Joe and Konnie play 50’s and 60’s classics.
Summer socials are monthly events organized and hosted by Kiwanis members to allow the club to get together on an informal basis while weekly club meetings are suspended during summer months.
The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island is a service organization whose sole purpose is to improve the lives of children in our community and around theworld. The club has more than 70 members, and is growing.
Funds raised by the Kiwanis Club are used to support area children through programs such as Terrific Kids, Reading is Fundamental, Key Clubs, K-Kids, and Priority One. The club provides high school scholarships and assistance to local school programs, including the free lunch program.
In season, the Kiwanis Club meets Tuesdays at 7:30 AM, at Stonewall’s Restaurant. Currently on summer break, Kiwanis will resume its regular weekly meetings in September. For more information about membership, visit their website at: www.kiwanisclubofmarcoisland.org.
