The new year for the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island has started off as a busy one. Two new members were inducted into the Club at the Thursday morning meeting. The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island along with the two Rotary Clubs on Marco Island have teamed up to pack 150,000 meals on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Charter Middle School. Volunteers are welcome to help pack the meals. Look for members of the three clubs selling 50/50 raffle tickets and collecting money to achieve that goal and raise $30,000.

Once again this year, the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island is holding its annual drive for the Toys for Kids project. Funds are being collected by all members to purchase suitable toys for the needy children on Marco Island and in the area. For many years, the Kiwanis has provided toys for the kids at Manatee and Tommie Barfield Elementary Schools allowing parents to focus their spending on food and necessities. Donations can be mailed to the Kiwanis Foundation of Marco Island, P.O. Box 2041, Marco Island, FL 34146.

Weekly breakfast meetings are held at Porky’s Last Stand on Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island on Thursdays at 7:30 AM. Come to a meeting and see how you too can help the children of our area.
