While the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island has already notched two extremely successful events this year – the Third Texas Hold-em Tournament on January 22 and the 17th Annual Kiwanis Car Show February 14 – they also continue to meet weekly for breakfast meetings to learn from speakers who contribute to the quality of community life.
Their speaker on February 4 was Denia Campos who reviewed the work of the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board. This board assists people looking for work or who are looking to upgrade their skill sets.
On February 11, Kiwanis Club of Marco welcomed Kari Hodgson and associates from the Recycling Department of the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division of Collier County. Hodgson spoke about our outstanding recycling program and how it contributes to the preservation of environmental quality.
The Club was pleased to have Charlette Roman, former Marco Island City Councilor, and current Governor Appointed Chair of the South Florida Water Management District on February 18. Roman highlighted their programs with waste management, toxic runoff, recycling, and water quality issues.
Kiwanis meets every Thursday morning at 7 AM for a breakfast meeting at Stonewalls, 551 S. Collier Blvd. If you would like to join this dynamic civic club, please join us!
