Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island recently took part in that mission with their annual Christmas Toys for Kids event at Manatee Elementary School.

The spirit of joy abounded as all 787 students from pre-K through grade 5 received a toy and a candy cane. The warmth of the season was kindled further as each child was presented with a blanket donated by the Marco Lutheran Church. Santa and Mrs. Claus traveled all the way from the North Pole to host this annual Christmas event. They were assisted by several

Perhaps the greatest gift of the day was the joy that witnessed through the eyes of the children. Their happiness and excitement ignited the day with a light that will shine in our hearts forever. The spirit of Christmas is truly alive for those who believe!

The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island purchased the toys and candy canes through their fundraising efforts and generous donations they received. The club is very grateful to Stan’s Idle Hour, CJ’s On the Bay and Toys ‘R’ Us in Naples for their generosity in support of this cause.

The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island always welcomes new members. They meet each Thursday at 7:30 PM at Stonewall’s, 551 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island. For more information, please visit www.kiwanisclubofmarcoisland.org. Come join us in serving the children of the world!
