The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island has been helping families of the area since 1993. The list includes scholarships for college students, supporting local daycare facilities, toys for kids program, terrific kid program for elementary students, RIF (reading is fundamental) program at Tommie Barfield Elementary and Manatee Elementary, supporting the Lely band and sports and providing funds for children programs worldwide. Community service is also a big part of our donation to the Island. On Saturday, November 13, 2010, approximately 16 members of the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island, met at the Summit House Condominium on Collier Boulevard at 8:30 a.m. to clean our beaches. The group split up with bags and gloves and walked the beach area north and south collecting all types of trash. Afterwards they enjoyed a brunch at Pat Hagadorn’s house. The club has some of the best cooks on the Island.
