Kindle now compatible with OverDrive at Collier County Public Library

Collier County Public Library can now lend eBooks for the Amazon® Kindle. The process for borrowing an eBook for Kindle is similar as for other devices. Most eBooks already in the library’s catalog, supplied by OverDrive, are compatible with Kindle so users simply browse or search for “Kindle Book,” check out a title with a valid library card, and then click “Get for Kindle.” eBooks and other digital content are available 24/7 from our virtual library at www.public.collier-lib.org/virtual and incur no late fees because they automatically expire at the end of the lending period.

In addition to Kindle, OverDrive provides support for all major desktop and mobile devices, including Windows®, Mac®, iPod®, iPhone®, iPad®, Sony® Reader, NOOK™, Android™, BlackBerry® and Windows® Phone.

“Your Collier County Library Card, the Smartest Card in your wallet has just become more valuable,” says Marilyn Matthes, Library Director. “We are striving to become the first online stop for eBooks, where customers can browse, discover and sample new and popular titles and authors in virtually all subjects.”

To obtain a Collier County library card, visit any of the ten Collier County libraries. Just bring a photo ID and proof of residency for a free library card. Visitors can also get a library card for a small monthly fee of $10.

Collier County Public Library offers both OverDrive classes to learn how to download eBooks and OverDrive Help sessions to answer questions regarding the download process. For dates and information visit www.colliergov.net/library and click on the program link.
