Each year Cheryl Toth (shown in the red shirt) teaches CPR to her seventh grade students and First Aid to her eighth grade students, so that when they graduate the students have their two year American Heart Association certification in both courses.

The Marco Island Fire Department helps train the kids and purchases their certification cards for them. It is a great cooperative effort between the City of Marco Island, Marco Island Charter School, and our AHA affiliate Physicians Regional Hospital. Karen Miller (in white scrubs) is the Clinical Education Manager of Physicians Regional. She comes down each year to hand out cards and facilitates the entire program.

Cheryl Toth is a certified instructor for the AHA and has been teaching this to her students for 11 years because she knows how important it is. It truly is a great service to the City of Marco Island and the children who live and attend school at MICMS.
