Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an international standard of excellence in green construction. Based on adherence to prerequisites of required elements or green-building strategies, and credits of optional elements and strategies, LEED construction projects earn points toward certification. Based on credits that are developed through rounds of public comments and the collaboration of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), projects may earn the LEED rating level of LEED Certified, LEED Silver, LEED Gold or LEED Platinum.

At 1800 Menorca Court on Marco Island, a stunning piece of sea glass has turned into gold; LEED Gold, that is! Kevin Williams Construction is very proud of their golden model, “Sea Glass Marco.” This 4,835 square foot custom built luxury home is the first building on Marco Island to receive a LEED rating of any level, let alone that of LEED Gold. Enhanced with the creative talents of interior designer Theresa Wright, owner of Interiors & Silks, LLC, this home is a showcase of coastal contemporary elegance and style.

In addition to the wow factor of its visual appeal, the home is built

to the highest standards of durability, energy efficiency, and health and safety for its occupants. These are the standards that define LEED certification. Some of the home’s extraordinary features include recessed LED lighting throughout, Crestron Lighting Control System and Whole House Automation with Energy Control Mangement, a “future-proofed” advanced home wiring package, Energy Star appliances, high ef- ficiency on-demand tankless gas water heaters, energy efficient windows, a high efficiency HVAC system, spray foam insulation and interior batt soundproofing, and a closed envelope building system. The building is Energy Star Rated with a HERS index of 53, a rigorous standard that is necessary to achieve LEED Gold certification. The rating indicates extreme durability and comfort with reduced utility and maintenance costs.

Did you know that the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that indoor air is two to ten times more polluted than outdoor air? All LEED certified homes are required to provide proper ventilation and high efficiency air filters to reduce the occurences of mold and mildew. They are designed to ensure the best quality of indoor air by minimizing exposure to airborne toxic

pollutants.

At Sea Glass Marco, there is plenty of space to relax and take deep breaths of that high quality indoor air. An expansive great room, gourmet designed kitchen and elegant dining area make this a perfect home for those who enjoy entertaining.

With a master bedroom suite and two additional guest suites, there is plenty of room for privacy, rest and relaxation. Step outside and take a deep breath of that beautiful Marco Island air on the non-slip porcelain tile of the nearly 1,000 square foot lanai, complete with an outdoor kitchen. After that, you will want to take a dip in the 495 square foot pool and unwind in the large spa for the ultimate experience in luxurious living.

Sea Glass Marco is truly a masterpiece of design. Perhaps the features that make it even more stupendous are the hands that physically built this magnificent home. Kevin Williams spent his youth in the Hudson Valley city of Kingston, New York, working many summers doing carpentry to earn money for his college education at SUNY Albany. Shortly after marrying his wife, Sallie,

the couple took a trip to Marco Island to visit her parents. Just like so many of us, they fell in love with this magical place and moved to Marco Island in 1977. In 1985, Kevin started Kevin Williams Construction. With hands-on hard work, long hours and dedication, the business successfully grew to specialize in custom luxury homes.

In 2004, the business gained an additional positive asset. Kevin’s son, Ryan, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, returned to Marco Island after three years of experience in corporate and investment finance with Lehman Brothers in Manhattan. Ryan joined Kevin Williams Construction as the manager of operations and sales.

With their quality craftmanship and personal customer service, this fatherson team is proving that the old school principles of honesty, integrity and teamwork are the keys to success. Kevin Williams Construction strives to not only satisfy their clients, but to exceed their clients’ expectations. With their LEED Gold model, Sea Glass Marco, they are fulfilling that mission!
