Kay’s on the Beach held its 42nd Valentine’s
Fashion Show at the Hideaway Beach Club on
February 13, 2018. This event captured the latest styles for spring.
Kay’s fashion show, a popular local event, boasted more than 200 women in attendance this year. The ladies were treated to a delicious luncheon while previewing the newest brand name arrivals at Kay’s stores. Mother and daughter team, Kay Folsom and
Jeane Hilt were thrilled to see many guests who have supported their success throughout the decades.
There are some fun fashions in store for
2018. “We expect to see vibrant colors and flower patterns in trend this year,” Hilt commented. “Big bell sleeves, mesh, embroidery, a lot of floral patterns and vibrant colors. The color that’s ‘in’ is periwinkle, but Kay especially loves her pinks, hot pink, of course.”Also to watch out for is a new fabric that has hit the racks. Gaining popularity is a new line of silk by the brand Tempo. And as we brace ourselves for the hot summer days ahead, soft flowing Victorian era inspired garments are a great option to try. Straight off the runways of Paris, Nicole Bakti’s high-low lace dress was the highlight of the show.
The models graced the catwalk, starting with casual looks that were later upgraded to evening gowns. Among the featured models were Carol Ann Anzalone, Sue Augustine, Eve Connolly, Jane DeMado, Patricia Gill, Kay Halpin, Sharon Kelly Hardisty, Mary Haynes, Shirley Larson, Wanda McCasland, Jane Pehlke, Pat Vaia, and Cheryl Westrick.Wearing a striking red dress, singer Mary Jo O’Regan took to the stage and sang a classic rendition of “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. Author Cathy Burnham Martin was among the guests promoting “The Bimbo Has MORE Brains: Surviving Political Correctness,” a sequel to her first novel, “The Bimbo Has Brains.”
As the show concluded, the models took a final walk through the ballroom, while the audience cheered them and enjoyed one last look.Kay’s on the Beach is located at 1089 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island.
