On Friday, April 20th, Steven Banks will attempt to do what no man has done before. In what has been dubbed, KAYAK MARCO 24, Steven will leave the Snook Inn on Marco Island at 1:00 PM and attempt to kayak the total outer perimeter of the Marco Island, Cape Romano, Coon Key and Goodland commons area. He expects to arrive back at the Snook Inn at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 21st. A spectacular party will greet him as he will be certified as a new Guinness Book world record holder, under the category of “longest non-stop time period for one person kayaking.”
While the desire for a Guinness World Record may be enough inspiration for a person to attempt such a fete, Steven’s original goal was never to make a record. Steven is attempting this record-breaking trip in hopes of raising $20,000 to go to three different charities.
The “One World Foundation” will benefit the Urestiougi family of Mexico. Currently struggling both medically and financially, Steven hopesto donate money towards bringing both mother and son to the United States to receive medical care. “Partners in Hope,” a project in Malawi, offers free treatment for adults and children that have the HIV and AIDS virus. Fifty percent of the money raised during Kayak Marco 24 will go to these charities. The other fifty percent will go to a local Naples organization, “IMPACT.”
“This financial support will change, beautify, and in some cases, save many adults and children’s lives. My goal is to raise $20,000. If everyone reading this sends $1.00, I will reach this goal and many people’s lives will be changed and saved!” emphasizes Steven.
Visit the Snook Inn on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 PM to see if Steven reaches his Guinness World Record goal and be a part of the $20,000 goal while you’re there!
Any financial support may be made payable to KAYAK MARCO 24, C/O Steven Banks, 2701 55th Terrace SW, Naples, FL 34116. To learn more about the upcoming event visit www.dreamlander.com or email Steven at firstname.lastname@example.org.
