The Kathein family loves life and loves Marco Island. Like so many of us, Annelie and Amir Kathein fell in love with the island from the moment they crossed the Jolley Bridge. The Katheins began their jewelry business in Fort Lauderdale over 30 years ago. Today, the Katheins are the proud owners of Kathein Jewelers (formerly called Golden Gate Jewelers), located at 133 S. Barfield Drive in the Shops of Marco. Annelie and Amir’s son and daughter have added their talents to the business as well. Their son, Ari is a GIA Graduate Gemologist while their daughter Avital is a specialist in jewelry design and handles the store’s marketing and
That philanthropy includes a devoted generosity to the American Cancer Society (ACS). Kathein Jewelers recently hosted a Shop For a Cause day. The reception offered refreshments including sweet treats from Dolce Mare. Twenty-five percent of Kathein Jewelers’ sales at the event will be donated to the ACS Imagination Ball, “Glitz, Glamour &Giving.”
Sue Olszak of the Marco Island office of ACS and Debra Shanahan, the Imagination Ball chair were on hand at this well-attended event. Shanahan said, “We are so grateful to Kathein Jewelers for their generosity and dedication to the fight against cancer.” Debra Shanahan’s husband, Dick, had been co-chairing “Glitz, Glamour & Giving” with her at the time of his death in October 2016 from complications of stage 4 hepatobiliary cancer.
The Katheins’ generosity did not end with the event at the store. Kathein Jewelers also donated items that will be auctioned at the Imagination Ball, including a painting by renowned artist Alex Pauker.
As a cancer survivor, I am personally grateful to the Kathein family for their altruism and charity in the fight against this dreadful disease. I purchased a stunning necklace at Shop For a Cause, a silver cross with sparkling accents. I will wear it proudly close to my heart, always knowing that it helped to carry us one step closer to finding a cure.
