LAW OF KARMA – every action causes INFINITE effects.


B15-CBN_8-9-13-11Picking up the can on the beach that everyone glances at and passes over; holding the door for a few seconds longer for the elderly woman; listening to a neighbor talk about his new pacemaker when you have bags of groceries after a long day… all actions coming from the heart. The yogic, empathetic and true heart that realizes we are all one and do have profound effects on each other and our universe….

Most of us believe we can think any thought we like and be free of consequence as long as we don’t act on it. Yet, how many times have you had something on your mind and a friend looks to you and asks “What’s bothering you?” Our thoughts effect others and bear karmic consequences for ourselves.

The underlying INTENTION of any course of action determines whether it is liberating or binding. Even a yoga practice can perpetuate bondage if the underlying intention is selfish in nature. The intention underlying a yoga practice or any type of exercise, should always be to serve the higher SELF, not the



small self. Just as we can ask the neighbor about his surgery out of obligation, or heartfelt concern… even if we have to CULTIVATE it.

The law of karma implies that the key to a happy life is actually pretty simple. The degree of happiness you enjoy in life is the result of how much you have contributed to the happiness of other beings, presently as well as in the past.

Being kind and cheerful to others is the most potent way to create good karma for yourself. Maybe we have to fake it (real), until we make it (real). It may come easily, it may have to be a “decision” we make or have to make over and over again, but cultivating positive vibration in our speech and actions will just lead us to our our true, authentic, compassionate SELF.


Dianne Saywell works full time at a local dental office where she educates and helps maintain the oral health of the patients as a dental hygienist. She also spends her time introducing people to and sharing the healing power of YOGA, and the health it brings to the body, mind and spirit. Yoga, along with many other great classes, is offered at Healthy Body/Marco Fitness Club.
