The JW Marriott Marco Island recently hosted veterans who are graduates of PGA HOPE.
This was the first year on Marco Island for the Skins and Fins event, which celebrates disabled veterans for graduating from the PGA HOPE program. PGA HOPE introduces golf to veterans with disabilities, enhancing their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. South Florida PGA Professionals offer free golf sessions to veterans.
Members hosted the veterans on their personal boats and the golf scramble was played on the Hammock Bay course.
Chris Major, General Manager of Golf for the Marco Island JW Marriott, said, “The inaugural Skins and Fins event raised $20,000 for the South Florida PGA HOPE Foundation. These monies will help fund adaptive teaching equipment, golf clubs and life changing recreational programs for veterans as they assimilate back into civilian life. The Members Club of Marco is so proud to be associated with such a worthy cause.”
