Joy of Giving Changes Web Address

Web Address

The Joy of Giving holds their annual shopping event at Walmart on Collier Boulevard. Now in its 27th year, Joy of Giving provided Christmas for over 1,000 local children last year. It takes some mighty generous hearts to meet that challenge.

Throughout the year, kind-hearted souls make donations to the Joy of Giving 501(c) 3 to help them meet the challenge. Many of those donations come through the form of online contributions to the Joy of Giving’s website. That is why it is extremely important everyone gets the word out that the Joy of Giving’s website address has CHANGED! The new address is www.Jogchildren.org. A link on the website enables online donations.

Next up on the Joy of Giving (JOG) calendar is the Ride for Joy poker run to be held on November 29, 2015. The ride meets at 701 Bistro at 701 Bald Eagle Drive for breakfast. The first bike leaves at 10AM, the group will stop at Junkanoos, Cracklin Jacks and Twisted Spoke before heading back to 701 Bistro. Ernie Bordon and Autocraft have been a major part of this poker run for many years.

On December 12 beginning at 6AM, the shopping event will take place at Walmart at 6650 Collier Boulevard. Volunteers from various schools, clubs and organizations join Walmart employees to make this event flow smoothly and easily for the shoppers. “It is our goal to allow the children and their parents the ability to maintain their privacy and dignity during the process of helping,” said the JOG founder, Nicki Davis. “We never lose sight that this is for the children! They have no control over their circumstance and Christmas for them is what counts.”

All of this is made possible by the generosity of many donors. A main supporter of the Joy of Giving is the Island Country Club Charitable Foundation. Not only do they provide much of the financial support, members volunteer their time and provide a free frozen turkey to each family as they leave the store. Noontime Rotary also supports the Joy of Giving each year, as does Walker’s Marine. These businesses and organizations also volunteer at the Joy of Giving event, as well as offer financial donations.
