The Jolley Be Good 5K Run-Walk returns for it’s third year on Saturday, November 23. Put on by the City of Marco Island Parks and Recreation department, the race’s proceeds will go to funding future programs and special events.

The race will begin at Veteran’s Community Park, and from there, the route will follow down Collier Boulevard, cross over the Jolly Bridge, loop around, and return down Collier. This return trip is Recreation Manager Mindy Gordon’s favorite part. “Watching everyone come through the finish line. It is such an achievement for those individuals to conquer such a tough 5K run/walk,” she explained. “It is an exhilarating feeling to know that I was a part of that experience with them.”

Last year, the 5K had 356 participants, and Mindy believes the numbers this year will grow to be around 400. Pre-race registration is open now at www.gcrunner.org, and is $20 from now through November 22. Hopeful participants can also pre-register at Mackle Park from Thursday, November 21 to Friday November 22, also for $20. Registering on race day will be $25.

Race day will begin with registration at 6:30 AM, and the race will follow with a 7:30 AM start time. Awards will be given within age groups, for the top three male and female participants, and for the top Master’s for males and females.

If you don’t want to participate in the race itself, but would still like to help out on race day, volunteers are welcome for setup, tear down, and to man and assist at water stations.
