The annual International Coastal Clean-up, instituted by the Ocean Conservancy, is in its 31st year of partnering with volunteer organizations and individuals around the globe. The event encourages people, on every one of the world’s coastlines, to remove trash from their beaches and waterways. In addition to cleaning the beaches, other goals of this worldwide activity are to identify the sources of the garbage and to change the behaviors that result in the litter.
The Tigertail Beach clean-up on Marco Island is hosted by Keep Collier Beautiful and Friends of Tigertail.
