Jewish Religion School proposed

The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island (JCMI) is reaching out to Jewish families living on Marco Island or in the vicinity who have school age children and who would be interested in a program of Jewish Religious Education. Our initial program would depend on the ages and backgrounds of children entering our program.  Our initial thought is for children beginning in the third grade working up to Bar/Bat Mitzvah and later working toward Confirmation for those children in the 10th grade.

JCMI will have a family service at 2 p.m. on Rosh Hashanah (Thursday September 9) which will be open to the community. After services, attendees are invited to meet with our Rabbi, Dr. Edward Maline and our Cantorial Soloist Hari Jacobson to discuss the community’s need for such a school and our initial plans for its implementation.

JCMI is a liberal congregation serving the Marco Island community for almost three decades. We now seek to expand our outreach to a growing younger population currently living on or nearby the island or contemplating moving here in the near future.

For more information about JCMI or our proposed religious school, please call the Temple Office at 642-0800. Rabbi Maline looks forward to hearing from you.
