On January 29th, the San Marco Council of Catholic Women (SMCCW) held its 41st Fashion Show to another sell-out crowd of over 300 attendees.
The large parish hall sparkled with silver and gold stars on a backdrop of white lights. Sue Holewinski designed the overall décor which highlighted a large golden crescent moon at center stage. The tables were elegantly decorated in gold and silver
The theme was DREAM BIG with a byline of Style, Service and Spirit. According to Cookie Bergen, Chair of the event, “the purpose was to celebrate who we are as women. Style—we are unique. Spirit—this is our personality, our integrity and our grace. Service—as women we care for others through the many opportunities in our area. We give back!” Cookie Bergen and Helen McCullough were emcees for the Fashion Show.
The hall resonated with the distinctive music of piano artist Carl Granieri of Carl Granieri Orchestras. Fashion commentaries were presented by Jeane Hilt from Kay’s on the Beach and Kathy Campagna of Beach Daisy. Guests dined on delicious gourmet lunch prepared by Frisco’s Catering of Naples.
Kay Folsom was not able to join the show this year, but her daughter Jeane led the narration for the models. At last year’s event, Kay was honored for her insight on founding this Fashion Show. Kay Folsom, 94+ years young founder of Kay’s On The Beach used to emcee the fashion shows for SMCCW, but the baton has been passed on to her daughter Jeane. Kay’s On The Beach carries the latest trends, as well as traditional clothing and styles, ranging from casual to evening sophisticates. The Marco store is located at 1089 Bald Eagle Drive.
Beach Daisy Boutique specializes in “effortless lifestyle clothing and accessories.” They feature quality made in the USA and Canadian lines. They also carry handbags, jewelry, hats and shoes. Beach Daisy is located at 599 So. Collier Blvd., at Marco Walk.
As in year’s past, the event included silent auction items such as “All Hands on Deck” which offered a 2-hour cruise on a private yacht for luncheon and drinks provided for up to 12 passengers—courtesy of Chuck and Sue Thomas. The other items offered for silent auctions were from Skin Renewal Systems Medical Spa and a gift basket with a reversible Queen Size Heirloom Quilt by CCW member Elaine Gustafson. 45 baskets were raffled along with 6 fascinators decorated with dollar bills and 10 door prizes.
