For the Love of Cats has successfully collected over 2,500 pairs of shoes that will turn into a $1,000 donation from Funds2Orgs by purchasing all the shoes collected. The shoe collection drive, aptly named Puss ‘n Boots, was held every other Friday starting January 6, 2017 to raise funds for their TNR, spay/neuter, rescue and senior cat adoption programs.
The donated shoes are redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations. Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send her son to law school.
“We are very excited to reach our goal with the Puss ‘n Boots shoe drive,” said Jan Rich, president. “Everyone was so generous in cleaning out their closets to help us raise funds for our programs that save lives and help those less fortunate become self-sufficient. We are so grateful for the support from our community! It’s a win-win for everyone,” added Rich.
By donating shoes to the Puss ‘n Boots Shoe Drive, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives, and kitties’ lives too.
