Isle of Capri hosts Third Annual SUP Poker Run to benefit Special Olympics

On Saturday, June 6, 2015, the Third Annual SUP Poker Run will be held on the Isle of Capri, to benefit Special Olympics Florida, Collier County.

Funds raised by corporate sponsors and other supporters have enabled Special Olympic athletes to train and participate in the first three Special Olympics Florida- Monroe County Stand Up Paddle Invitational, an annual event taking place in October in the Florida Keys. Last year over 99 athletes participated, and hundreds attended the event during the day. In addition to raising funds, the event raises awareness of how this fitness sport can be accessible to people of all ages and abilities. This year organizers are hoping to double the number of participants, as SUP (stand up paddleboarding) has grown in popularity.

Registration for the SUP Poker Run is from 9-9:30 AM at the Capri Fish House, 203 Capri Blvd., Isle of Capri. Pre-registration is $40. Registration on the day of event is $50. Cost of registration includes food, an event t-shirt and a bag of goodies. Additional hands are $25, Kayak or Paddle Board rental is $20. The Capri Fish House will serve as home base, with four additional stops to be determined on the day of the event, based on weather conditions.
