Marco’s Community Theatre group announces cast for David DeBoy’s Terror-bly funny comedy “It’s A Scream”
The Island Theater Company (formerly The Island Players) is pleased to announce the cast of their fall production It’s A Scream.
The Island Theater Company recently held open auditions for their new fall show on Marco Island. According to Pattie Ziesig, they had an amazing turn out of folks who came to read for the five parts and sign up for all sorts of volunteer duties.
The cast includes Kip Jones as aging horror film star, Alexander Moreau. Kip hails from Connecticut and performed in many productions including On Golden Pond, A Man Who Came To Dinner, and It’s a Wonderful Life, in theaters throughout Connecticut and New York.
Since Kip’s arrival in Naples he has performed on stage in Humble Boy, Mirandolina and most recently as Juror #4 in Twelve Angry Jurors. He brings over fifteen years experience in theater, film, television and radio. This is Kip’s first role with the Island Theater Company.
Barry Anderson will make his stage debut as movie studio producer, Spencer Pierce. As a child, Barry wrote skits and recruited his brothers and sisters to perform in his home movies…and always saved the lead role for himself. Barry grew up on Marco Island and has been a fan of live theater since attending The Box Car Children at the Philharmonic. In addition to playing guitar and tenor sax he has modeling experience and brings new talent to the stage.
Judy Daye is a veteran of Marco theater who brings over fifteen years experience to the character of mysterious housekeeper Maria Yocknestor. Some of the shows you may have caught Judy in include Butterflies Are Free, Cemetery Club, and last seasons A Bad Year for Tomatoes and I’m Herbert. Judy performs with the Marco Island Historical Society and will soon be taking her one-woman show, Fannie Frugal on the road.
In the role of Maxie, Pierce’s middle-aged chauffer, Don Manley is sure to bring his own comedic skills. Don is no newcomer to Marco Island or to the stage but this will be his first performance with the Island Theater Company. Some of Don’s recent shows include Talk Radio, Voices of Sanibel, Macbeth, and last seasons Twelve Angry Jurors.
Jersey, “wanna be” actress, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Borden will be played by Angela Anderson. Angela is a newcomer to the Southwest Florida theater scene. You may remember her as turkey-totin’ Flo McPheeney in last seasons Queen of Bingo. Prior to Bingo Angela shined in her stage debut Last of the Red Hot Lover’s. As a mother of seven, Angela juggles her time between kids, theater, and her new partnership at the newly reopened Zinful wine and martini bar.
It’s A Scream, by David DeBoy is a “Horror-bly Funny Comedy” with a plot right out of the 1930’s and 1940’s movie library.
The play is set in the 1950’s at a time when the old Hollywood studio system is falling apart and the new TV industry threatens the box office. Young studio head Spencer Pierce has inherited his father’s film studio and pays a call at a gothic mansion to lower the boom on Alexander Moreau, his top actor’s career.
It’s A Scream will run for ten shows at the Rose History Auditorium in October… just in time for Halloween.
