Please join us in Everglades City on Saturday, June 30, for a fun-filled day to celebrate our country’s Independence Day. We like to start the festivities early before it gets too hot. There are lots of activities to keep you entertained so bring the whole family.

Opening ceremony will begin at 9:30 AM. The theme of this year’s event is “Honoring our Veterans” with prizes for the best floats in the parade which will start at 10:00 AM. Last year, one of the floats was the boat built by Everglades youngsters during the CCSO “Build-a-Boat” summer activity. It was sponsored by the Everglades Lions. The best place to view the parade is around the circle in the center of town, in front of City Hall. There will be music, food, and art-and-crafts booths beginning at 10:30 A M. Children attending will be able to participate in the “Little Miss and Mister Firecracker” contest with prizes awarded.

Enjoy all our other activities in town (air-boat rides, kayaking/canoe trips, boardwalks, birding, Everglades National Park boat rides, visits to our Museums (both in Everglades City and Smallwood’s in Chokoloskee), before enjoying dinner at one of our several restaurants open year-round. Then complete your family day’s experience with our incredible fireworks display which will start promptly at 9:00 PM. These can be viewed from almost any site in town. They will be set off across the street from the Island Café, on the main road coming into town (CR 29). Celebrate Independence Day early with us in the Everglades!
