Registration is open for the inaugural World Pickleball Open (WPO) hosted by Kolter Homes, a leader in developing next-generation, master-planned active adult communities in the Southeastern U.S. The event will be held December 12-15, 2019 at Kolter’s PGA Village Verano Pickleball Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
With 26 pickleball courts plus a championship court for tournaments and multiple viewing areas with seating, the new facility is estimated to be the largest private pickleball center currently under construction in South Florida. This will be the first USAPA Sanctioned Event at Kolter’s brand-new PGA Village Verano Pickleball Center, set to open October 2019.
The WPO is a USAPA Tier 4 Sanctioned Event spanning four days of pros and skills division competition in singles and doubles, with pro division participants competing for up to $15,000. The action-packed affair kicks off on December 11, with clinics and exhibitions hosted by Engage Pickleball, one of the world’s leading pickleball paddle manufacturers.
“Pickleball is one of today’s fastest growing sports with an estimated 3.1 million players in America,” says John Manrique, Vice President of Marketing for Kolter Homes. “The World Pickleball Open will not only showcase the best players from across the country but create a fun, unique viewing experience for our residents and the greater Port St. Lucie community.”
Registration includes a limited-edition inaugural WPO t-shirt and goody bag. All participants registered before October 31 will receive complimentary admission to a session of the 2020 Delray Beach Open by VITACOST.com. Registration closes November 21, 2019.
