The Jewish Congregation of Marco Island (JCMI) prepares for its High Holiday Services in September. All of faith are welcome to the congregation of more than 150 families of diverse backgrounds.
There is a $100 charge for each guest for the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. Nonmembers who reside in the City of Marco area can join the synagogue and have their High Holy Day fees applied against their first year of the JCMI’s annual dues.
Services are as follows:
- Erev Rosh Hashanah – Sunday, September 9 at 7:30 PM. Erev in Judaism means “the day before,” so this marks the services on the evening before Rosh Hashanah.
- Rosh Hashanah 5779 – Monday, September 10 at 10 AM. This marks the Jewish New Year.
- Yom Kippur – Kol Nidrei – Tuesday, September 18 at 7:30 PM. This is a declaration recited in the synagogue before the beginning of the evening service on every Yom Kippur.
- Yom Kippur – Wednesday, September 19 at 10 AM with services including Yizkor and a 3:30 PM afternoon service with Ne’ilah. This marks the Day of Atonement.
Visitors are always welcome at the JCMI’s Friday evening services at 7:30 PM.
