Head Tennis Coach Needed For Special Olympics

Special Olympics of Collier County is in urgent need of a head tennis coach for its upcoming season, which runs from January 7 through May 21, 2017. The coach will be responsible, along with several assistant coaches, for one practice per week, on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 AM at the Greater Naples YMCA.

The head coach must be available for the following competitions during the 2017 season:

  • County Games – March 4 at Golden Gate High School from 8 AM to 2 PM.
  • Area Games – March 18 at Golden Gate High School from 8 AM to 2 PM.
  • State Games – May 19-21 at Disney›s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. This is a two-night trip, and transportation and all expenses for the event are covered by Special Olympics.

Each Special Olympics coach must be a Class A volunteer, which requires a background check, and must be able to teach and work with athletes with intellectual disabilities. Additional training is also required to become a head coach with Special Olympics Florida. This training is provided free of charge to the coach.

If you have experience as a tennis player and as a coach at any level, and if you can spend an hour and a half a week with our tennis team during this season, you’re just what we’re looking for! For more information, please email us at info@specialolympicscollier.org or call 239-775-1991.
