The Marco Bay Yacht Club (MBYC) held their thirty seventh Annual Change of Watch Saturday, January 22 at the Hideaway Beach Club. Over 100 members witnessed the time-honored tradition of recognizing past and present members who have contributed to the success of the Club. It was time for the outgoing Commodore Bill Horton to pass the gavel to incoming Commodore Brent Cook.

Commodore Cook introduced the new Bridge, Board of Directors, and committee members for the 2011 boating season. The 2011 Corporate Officers introduced were: Rear Commodore Gerry Odenbach, Vice Commodore Alan Rapp, Treasurer Betty Barter, and Secretary Litha Lane. This year the MBYC has introduced a new Small Boat Captain, Jim Lane who will concentrate on day cruises. Fleet Captain Ginny Rapp has many extended cruises planned.

The Marco Bay Yacht Club is entering its 43rd consecutive year of serving over 200 members. It is a diverse group made up of both small boats and large boats and offers many day trips, extended cruises, and social events for the membership. Safe and courteous boating are emphasized and the group is proud to be known as the, “The Fun Club.”
